Petitions for restoration of citizenship, 1895-1899.

These records document Governor William O. Bradley's use of the governor's power and privilege to restore citizenship rights to convicted criminals who have completed their prison sentences. Each petition is accompanied by an envelope which lists the petitioner's name and county, and frequently the date of executive action. The governor's reasons for his decision are often noted on the envelope as well; in many instances these are quite detailed. Related correspondence is attached to some petitions.
